More than 150 activities by Dutch artists, theater makers, musicians and designers took place in the Ruhr area in 2010. The Dutch consulate chose the brandname NL-Ruhr under which all of these activities were united. Lava designed a logo based on the Dutch license plate, a known symbol since many Germans see the Dutch passing through with their caravans. The license plate also stands for the Dutch mobility during the Ruhr activities, moving around from city to city as a travelling festival. Lava designed a typeface based on the industrial heritage of the Ruhr area, creating a recognizable and unique language for all of the activities.
